Location: 125th and Lake City Way NE, Seattle, WA.
This is the 70th Anniversary of Lake City's Pioneer Days. Events start on Friday at noon with a Lions Share Salmon Bake and Model Rail Road. Saturday, August 4th, starting at 10 a.m. there will be a street fair, entertainment, lots of family fun, a vintage car show, more salmon baking, vintage car awards and beginning at 6 p.m the Rotary Club has a Kid's Parade followed at 7 p.m with a Grand Performance Parade.
The Salmon Bake is at the Lake City Community Center, 12531 28th Ave. NE, you can smell the fish cooking clear up in Olympic Hills and across Lake City Way into the Cedar Park neighborhood.
The parade route is from 135th NE to 123rd NE along Lake City Way. The judges stand is at 127th NE Lake City Way. The opening ceremony will begin with a U.S. Army Color Guard and the singing of the National Anthem. I hope it is loud enough so all the veterans at McDermott Place can hear. The Lake City Western Vigilantes will be there, as always with their unique style of entertainment - all for a good cause.
Pioneer Days is a SeaFair event, lots of other happening around the city. Seattle's favorite clown, J.P. Patches, won't be with us this year. He has gone to the big circus. My condolences to all the Patches Pal of Seattle, there are plenty of them in Lake City.
